Societies
Our societies are some of the best ways sociological studies, international relations and politics students can get to know each other, settle into student life and enhance their university experience.
Digital Media Society (DigiSoc)
DigiSoc is a young society, set up to create a fun and welcoming space for you to get to know your coursemates and other people with similar interests.
We host a variety of events throughout the year, from themed bar crawls and nights out, to fun sober socials and the occasional study session.
If you have any questions, email us at DigitalMedia.society@sheffield.ac.uk
Politics Society (PolSoc)
The (PolSoc) is a common and non-partisan point of unison for all the University of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ students who are enthusiastic about politics and international affairs. The atmosphere we provide is full of opportunities for networking with other students, alumni, staff and important figures within the sector; as well as socialising and building friendships between members.
We are an active community with regular social events, volunteering initiatives, networking events, and projects like PolSocPod and our very own paper.
PolSocPod
The PolSocPod is a student-led podcast group that has three different shows - The Interview, Open Mic, and Pint Size Politics. We feature guest speakers ranging from staff to students - and on special occasions beyond the campus.

PolSoc paper
We also have our PolSoc Paper open to all of those in PolSoc who are interested in journalism. We accept articles from all over the political spectrum which are reviewed collectively by members. If you're interested in Politics and want to write about it, get involved!
Talks
We partner with a variety of academics, professionals and alumni to bring our members exciting and insightful talks and workshops.
Some of our most recent talks have been on topics such as 'Can the Conservative party survive?' from British political researcher and emeritus Professor Andrew Gamble and 'Politics, policy, and the prime minister' from former advisor to Gordon Brown, Professor Michael Jacobs.
Socials
We work with other political societies to ensure we are offering dynamic events that reach everyone on the political spectrum.
Our social secretaries work to expand the activities on offer, from nights out and dance events to fancy dinners and sober socials with absolutely no drinking initiations.
Sports
We have a number of successful sports teams in the intramural leagues, including and and , with both 6 aside and 11 aside teams.
Whether you're a professional or a complete beginner, everyone is welcome to join the sport team of their choice. Plus each sports team organises their own socials.

Sociology Society (SocSoc)
The Sociology Society (SocSoc) is a group of social science students who volunteer in a variety of roles, such as charity, social, academic and sports. We hold various events throughout the year for students to get involved with, such as our annual summer ball, Christmas meal, and regular charity and social events. Whilst we work closely with the school, we run externally to the University and provide a student-run support network to all students.
As a society, we aim to provide a welcoming, accessible and inclusive environment for all students. We want to ensure that students are given a wide range of opportunities to ensure their university experience is a positive one. We encourage everyone to get involved with the society as it gives you the chance to meet some amazing people and take part in some great events.
Academic support
To support you throughout your studies our Academic Officer organises extra-curricular support and help for first and second year students. Throughout the year the society will provide members with the chance to be part of essay writing and revision tip sessions, career events and a regular sociological film club.

This year, SocSoc have chosen to support two charities - one local, and one national. ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Flourish work on a local level to support the community's metal health needs, while Breast Cancer Now fund 340 researchers across the UK working toward preventing breast cancer.
