- Delivering Trustworthy Electoral Oversight
Democratic elections should be free and fair if they are to maintain public trust. To ensure these qualities, societies rely on transparency mechanisms to identify concerning practice. To date, however, systems of electoral oversight have failed to adapt to the digital age, meaning efforts to expose corruption rely on time-consuming manual practice. This project combines computational methods with political science classification techniques to build an automated system for the analysis of electoral spending returns. Moreover, it tests public and practitioner perceptions of this tool to identify how to foster public trust in this technique as a means of electoral oversight.

- Solidarity with Animals
Professor Alasdair Cochrane is co-editing a book with Mara-Daria Cojocaru from the Munich School of Philosophy on Solidarity with Animals. This book continues his scholarship in the so-called 'political turn' in animal ethics. While much work in this political turn has been done on concepts like 'justice', 'agency', 'representation', etc., only very few animal scholars have talked about 'solidarity'. The edited collection brings together the leading thinkers in the fields of animal ethics, politics, social philosophy, world religions, and the law to explore this lacuna and thus provide the first book length treatment of solidarity between the species.
