How did you first hear about your scholarship?
I first heard about the scholarship through the University’s website and online applicant portal. I considered the scholarship an excellent opportunity to reflect on my past academic and extra-curricular achievements and define future aims.
What made you choose to study at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ and your course?
The University’s research-led teaching and learning environment, diverse student community, in-depth and hands-on course structure and more collaborative than competitive academic culture drove my choice. Mechanical Engineering brings together all aspects of modern-day engineering. Problem solving, critical thinking and innovation are at the heart of this course. The University’s state-of-the-art engineering infrastructure added even greater value.
How did you research the University to find out about studying in ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ?
I researched the University online through general and course specific league tables. This led me to the University’s website where I found detailed information regarding my degree programme and student life in ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ. The University’s ‘Virtual Open Day’ for international students offered great insight into life at the University. I was very impressed with the fact that the University consistently ranked high for overall student experience and satisfaction in the UK.
What was your initial impression of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ and the University when you first arrived?
I will always remember the day that I first arrived in ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ. I was carrying both excitement and anxiety in equal measure. As days turned into weeks, my anxiety turned into amazement on realising what a truly wonderful place ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ was. I discovered that ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ indeed offered the best of all worlds. It brought together a rich academic culture and a dynamic social atmosphere.
What would you say to a student considering studying at the University of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ?
Go for it! The time you spend at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ will eventually become the foundation of your life and career. The ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ experience will bring only the best out of you and lead you towards making meaningful contributions to the world we live in.
